How a 29-Year-Old Chemical Engineer Bring New Life to Theatre!
In a remarkable display of determination and talent, a 29-year-old chemical engineer from Andhra Pradesh has found his true calling in reviving the ancient art of theatre. Osman Ghani, hailing from Tenali, has not only become a theatre actor but has also made his mark as a director. After completing his master's degree in chemical engineering from Andhra University, Osman realized his passion for the performing arts and pursued another master's degree at Pondicherry Central University. Despite facing opposition from his family, who desired a stable and high-paying job for him, Osman remained resolute in his pursuit of his dreams. During his college days, Osman showcased his directorial prowess with plays like Anton Chekhov's 'Swan Song' and AK Ramanujan's adaptation, 'If Lanterns Could Talk!' These early productions served as indicators of his talent as a director, blending various art forms such as music, acting, set design, and sound engineering. Osman's directorial debut, 'Paraayi,' delves into the challenges faced by people during the India-Pakistan partition in 1947. The incorporation of poems and verses by renowned poets Sahir Ludhianvi and Faiz Ahmed added depth to the play and resonated with students and the youth. Premiering at Ravindra Bharati in Hyderabad, 'Paraayi' exceeded all expectations, receiving overwhelming appreciation and love from the audience. Inspired by this success, Osman has continued to direct plays, while also collaborating with the international creative education academy, Helen O'Grady, to provide training in drama and performing arts to teachers. With his unwavering determination, Osman envisions introducing theatre arts to children and establishing a children's theatre, believing it enhances their life skills and provides a platform for self-expression. Osman Ghani's journey serves as an inspiration, transforming his passion into a flourishing artistic endeavor that transcends boundaries.
