When Colors Speak More Than a Thousand Words
Life is like a rainbow, you need both rain and sun to make its colors appear. That’s how Dr Archana Sharma’s life has been, alternating between sorrow and joy to make it inspiring and uplifting. Dr Sharma is a 50-year-old Zoologist who fought cancer and has now left the bleak experiences behind her to become a painter. Finding joy in the world of colors, she is now a member of 150 to 200 art communities worldwide. In the first quarter of 2020, the zoologist from Jabalpur began exploring the large canvas of the outside world. She achieved this by fusing paintbrushes, colored pencils, and an array of myriad colors to produce vivid works of art. She could effortlessly create evocative drawings and paintings that were influenced by folk and tribal art, such as paintings like Madhubani, Warli, and Pichwai. Dr Sharma reveals that it was her father-in-law, retired police officer, Vijay Shankar Sharma who guided her out of her sadness. She began to explore painting by drawing the smiling portrait of her father-in-law who had died of liver cancer. After being showered with praise from her family and friends for the portrait, Dr Sharma was inspired to do more sketches beginning with her own portrait and progressing to drawings of prominent figures, including her all-time idol Swami Vivekananda, Sardar Patel, and Rabindranath Tagore. She also took guidance from YouTube videos and other websites. Gradually, with hours of practice, she transformed herself into a seasoned painter whose works of art have been shown in more than 150 online art communities established by artists and art lovers in 50 different nations, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Turkey, Brazil, Denmark, the United States, and Ukraine.
