He Took One Breath… What Happened Next Earned Him a Guinness World Record!
How much can a person achieve with just one breath? For Indian yoga teacher Kamal Kaloi, the answer is nothing short of astonishing. The 38-year-old has once again stunned the world by earning his third Guinness World Record, completing an incredible 86 underwater push-ups on a single breath. The remarkable feat has earned him the title for the most underwater push-ups with a single breath (male), showcasing an extraordinary combination of physical strength, mental discipline and yogic mastery. The record attempt took place in Ninh Binh, Vietnam, where Kamal now lives and trains. After nearly two years of rigorous preparation, he submerged himself to the bottom of a swimming pool, positioned himself for the challenge and continued performing push-ups until he could no longer hold his breath. When he resurfaced, he had secured a place in the Guinness World Records once again.Where Yoga Meets Superhuman EnduranceUnlike a conventional fitness challenge, Kamal's record demanded complete control over both body and mind. His years of practising yoga gave him exceptional breath-control abilities, allowing him to hold his breath for as long as six minutes while remaining physically active underwater. This is far from Kamal's first brush with the record books. In 2020, he captured global attention by setting the Guinness World Record for the most consecutive yoga positions performed underwater, completing an impressive 21 poses. The same year, he also claimed the record for the most air rings blown underwater, creating 72 rings. Although that record has since been surpassed by American Amelia de los Rios, Kamal's passion for pushing human limits has only grown stronger.Kamal said that he had always wanted to do something different. He explained that whenever he saw someone achieve a world record, he felt inspired. After setting his first underwater yoga record, he realised his own strength and decided to challenge himself even further.Dreaming Even BiggerDespite completing an astonishing 86 underwater push-ups, Kamal believes he is capable of doing even more. Looking ahead, he hopes to find sponsors who can support his future Guinness attempts, including ambitious challenges such as underwater walking and underwater bench presses. For Kamal, every record is more than a personal milestone—it's a reminder that determination can overcome even the toughest limits. His message is simple yet powerful: work hard, stay committed to your goal and never give up. With enough perseverance, he believes, anyone can achieve what once seemed impossible.
