India On A Winning High
It was a triple treat for India when on Sunday shuttler Kidambi Srikanth won the Denmark Open, Indian hockey team clinched the Asia Cup title and Indian golfer Gaganjeet Bhullar lifted the Macao Open trophy. Kidambi trounced his opponent, Korean veteran Lee Hyun II who is 12 years his senior to clinch a dominating straight-game victory in the $750,000 Denmark Open. It was his third Super Series Premier title. The shuttler asserted his dominance with a 21-10, 21-5 win over 37-year-old Lee in a match that lasted just 25 minutes. After a ten year wait, India triumphed in the Asia Cup tournament when its hockey team beat a gutsy Malaysia 2-1 in a nail-biting final to clinch their third Asia Cup hockey title. Ramandeep Singh (3rd minute) and Lalit Upadhyay(29th minute) scored for India. The last time India won the Asia Cup was in the year 2007. Indian golfer Gaganjeet Bhullar emerged victorious in the Macao Open. He lifted the trophy for the second time in his career after closing with a three-under-par 68 to complete a stunning wire to wire victory on Sunday. 29-year-old Bhullar fired seven birdies against two bogies and a double bogey to win by three shots with a thirteen-under-par 271 total for his eighth Asian Tour victory.
