Over 9000 projects to be rolled out in a day in Rajasthan

This month end, PM Modi is slated to visit Rajasthan and create a record of sorts as he will roll out around 9,500 road projects and state’s flagship programmes at a cost of over RS 27,000 crore. The PM will visit Udaipur next week to lay foundation stones for the projects as well as inaugurate some completed ventures. He will be accompanied by Union highways minister, Nitin Ghadkari and chief minister Vasundhara Raje Most of the projects pertain to improvement and construction of state roads. Around 11 completed NH projects totalling about 873-km in length will be inaugurated by PM Modi including a six-lane cable-stayed bridge across the river Chambal in Kota. The projects are sanctioned under the Centre’s rural connectivity programmes while some fall under those of the state government such as PM Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY), Rajasthan Road Sector Modernisation Project (RRSMP) and Gramin Gaurav Path. Thirty-one projects are on the build-operate and-transfer (BOT) model. In fact, Rajasthan leads in implementing public-private-partnership road projects under the BOT model. The PM is expected to address a ‘mammoth rally’ in Udaipur during his visit. According to reports, he may also roll out various housing and development related works across cities in Rajasthan.
