Women In Jhabua Take Up An Initiative
Overcoming opposition from village men and elders, the women of Jhabua' Amba Khodra have set up a sanitary pad manufacturing units. The women were using alternative methods which made them prone to severe infections. After taking a loan from National Rural Livelihood Mission, the women set up this unit. The women make up to 600-700 pads in a month and earn around Rs. 1000 per month. Hemlata is the group leader who ignored the orthodox mentality of people who called it a taboo and dirty thing and continued to finish the project of setting up this unit.
