To Apply Abroad, NEET Made Compulsory.
According to the Unione ministry, undergraduate students who are planning to apply for medical courses abroad will have to give National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). This change in the system is said to affect the students applying in China, Russia and many such countries. The Medical Council Of India had proposed this and the Union Ministry approved it on Tuesday. The NEET exam will be conducted to obtain the eligibility certificate (EC) to apply for foreign medical courses. “It has come to notice that medical institutions / Universities of foreign countries admit Indian students without proper assessment or screening of the students’ academic ability to cope up with medical education with the result that many students fail to qualify the Screening Test,” read the health ministry order.
