First ultra light artillery gun M777 reaching India soon.

The Indian Army would  receive its first heavy ordnance after three decades. The first batch of  two guns from the 145 M777 ultra light artillery gun order, is scheduled arrive in India this week. These have been ordered from the US, as per the report in the Economic Times. The guns are being delivered about one month ahead of schedule, according to a company statement. India had signed the Letter of Agreement and Acceptance (LOA) on November 30, 2016, with the US for purchasing 145 M777 ultra-light artillery guns. It was signed under the foreign military sale (FMS) procedure. These guns were  supposed to be delivered in the June. BAE will supply 25 guns out of 145 guns, while remaining 120 would be produced in India by Mahindra. A BAE Systems spokesman said in a statement, "In fulfillment of the United States' Foreign Military Sale of 145 M777 ultra light weight howitzer to India, we are pleased to confirm that the first two weapon systems will land in India ahead of schedule over this weekend." The guns are air portable. The 155mm/39 calibre gun has a maximum range of 30 km. It is produced by BAE Systems. The guns will provide much needed firepower to the Indian Army.
