Kerala tourism gets a boost through live streaming technology
In order to promote tourism in Kerala, the state government is planning to use its own live streaming technology to tap tourists' experiences of the destinations they visit. As there is a major potential for tourism in Kerala, young professionals along with state Tourism Department, is planning to use live streaming as a major campaign tool for the upcoming second edition of International Conference on Tourism Technology (ICTT) in Kochi. The three day event is organized by the Association of Tourism Trade Organisation (ATTOI), with the support of Kerala Tourism at the Le Meridien Hotel in Kochi from June 8 to 10. ATTOI President Anish Kumar P K, who is also a winner of the Kerala State Tourism Award for best use of IT in tourism, said that live feeds are getting more exposure and response, unlike other social media. He added that it is intimate, engaging, bespoke and authentic than any other form of tourism destination promotions. Last December, at an international conference, the ATTOI had organised a live streaming of an underwater engagement to showcase beach resorts as a unique offering of Kerala Tourism. The live video from the beach resort of Kovalam was watched and admired by over 25 lakh viewers across the world. The event was a huge hit and gave people a chance to explore a place before they embark upon their journey. ICTT 2017 will introduce the tourism industry players to the latest technology through effective usage of the digital platform. The brainstorming meet is expected to be attended by experts from Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand, Australia, UK, USA, and Belgium.
