Kavita Devi – The Epitome of Power
Kavita Devi is an example of the woman of strength and power as well as an inspiration for all Indian women as she succeeded in becoming the first Indian woman to be signed by the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). She is the first ever woman wrestler from India to be awarded a WWE developmental contract Kavita Devi also has the distinction of being the first Indian woman to compete in a WWE ring, as she was a featured participant in the Mae Young Classic women’s tournament. Kavita Devi is also a former Kabaddi player and competitive powerlifter . She hails from Haryana and took training under the guidance of professional wrestler The Great Khali (Dalip Singh Rana) at his Punjab based wrestling promotion and training academy. Kavita Devi’s video, in which she wrestled against a woman wrestler named B B Bull Bull, went viral on social media and she rose to fame. She also won a gold medal at the 2016 South Asian Games. The undaunted wrestler said that it was a privilege to be the first Indian woman to compete in WWE. For her, participating in the Mae Young Classic with some of the best female performers in the world was a great learning experience. Now, she desires to be the first WWE Women’s Champion from India and is leaving no stone unturned to fulfill this big dream. Kavita Devi is expected to begin training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida this January. The WWE Performance Center is the home of the developmental system for WWE. With seven training rings, a world-class strength and conditioning program and cutting-edge edit and production facilities, the Performance Center allows new recruits to hone their skills through a comprehensive program that includes in-ring training, physical preparedness and character development. Additionally, WWE also conducts Professional Development program that focuses on four key pillars: Life Skills, Education, Wellness and Career Success. Kavita Devi dedicated her success to her family’s support. She was liberal with her praise for Dalip Singh Rana aka The Great Khali, former Indian origin WWE male champion and gave him credit for her success. Kavita Devi who has fought on the world's biggest platform for wrestlers asserted that nothing was impossible for women to achieve.
