Selfie points at Indore zoo to attract more visitors.
A novel way to increase footfall at Kamla Nehru Prani Sangrahalaya in Indore has been adopted by the civic body officials. It involves setting up selfie zones at appropriate places in the zoo. Zoo in-charge Uttam Yadav said that they have already put up a selfie point in Area no. 3 of the zoo. There are plans to develop a few more selfie points as per the need of visitors. As part of IMC’s plan to revamp the zoo, three more selfie points will be created. He further added that it has come to their notice that visitors enter the prohibited areas in the zoo for the thrill of taking selfies and thereby endanger themselves. Hence it was decided to build separate selfie points where visitors can conveniently and safely take selfies without disturbing the animals. This will ensure that no untoward incident takes place. It will be interesting to see that the selfie points are beautified by works of art made out of waste items like hoarding structures and handcarts that were seized by the civic body. As part of the initiative of the civic body's waste management plan, discarded and seized items like wood, iron rod etc can be used to decorate these selfie points and make them look more attractive. Apart from selfie points, the zoo and the civic body have joined hands to start work on a Monkey Island and a Snake House. All these measures are expected to prompt visitors to spend more time at the zoo and increase its footfall.
