All Set To Start India’s First Funicular Trolley

India’s first Funicular Trolley to start in Maharashtra from tomorrow. It was sanctioned in 2010 and took exactly eight years to complete and finally all set to be launched tomorrow on a hilltop of  Saptashrungi Devi's temple in Nashik.  Millions of pilgrims from all over India come to this temple as it is one of the  51 ‘Shakti-Peethas” in India. The ancient temple has an idol of  Saptashrungi Mata with 18 arms. Sapta (seven) Shrungi (peaks), the seven hill peaks is known for its lush green forests from all sides and also have rare medicinal herbs.  The pilgrims are for sure going to have an amazing experience as they will not only enjoy the beautiful sights but also reach the hilltop in just 3 minutes. There are 510 steps and it takes about an hour or two to reach the temple top.  The Funicular Trolley, a pair of vehicles are pulled on a slope by a cable which loops over a pulley wheel at the upper end of a track. While one vehicle is ascending the other one is descending the track and thus they are counterbalancing each other.   Thus the Funicular Trolley will now enable the senior citizens and children to reach the temple top in no time.  This trolley has been constructed by Suyog Gurbaxani Funicular Ropeways Pvt. Ltd., Thane, as a build-operate-transfer project in consultation with Promekhnizatse Consultants of Ukraine. Maharashtra Public Works Department Superintending Engineer in Nashik, R.R. Hande said the trolley will be travelling at 36-degree angle and can carry 60 passengers at a time. Initially, the passengers will be charged with Rs. 80/- as the ticket fare for adults and Rs. 40/- for senior citizens above 75 years of age and children below 12 years too. Constructing a Funicular Trolley was truly a difficult task for the Maharashtra government and starting it tomorrow will definitely set an example and motivate others, indeed a proud moment for our country.
