PM Modi Inaugurates 50 Kilowatts ‘Gandhi Solar Park’ at the Headquarters of the UN
After the huge success of ‘Howdy Modi’, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a 50 kilowatt 'Gandhi Solar Park' at the Headquarters of the UN to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Prakash Javadekar on Tuesday said that tribute was paid to Mahatma Gandhi by installing over 193 solar panels in the United Nations (UN) Headquarters by India. Apart from the Solar Park and the installation of solar panels, it was a proud moment for India when the UN planted 150 trees to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi which falls on October 2. The significance of hosting these events is that it will underline the continuing relevance of Gandhian thoughts and values in today's world. According to Javadekar, these eco-friendly and environmentally sustainable events which were the initiatives of PM Modi were very well appreciated by the leaders across the world. He further said that it was a unique program where the teachings of] non-violence, peace, antyodaya (uplifting of the weakest section of the society) by Mahatma Gandhi was remembered.
