West Indies Cricket Board renamed to Cricket West Indies
In a quest to make the body more profitable, West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) President David Cameron announced the rebranding and renaming of WIBC to Cricket West Indies. Though there is no official announcement made about the name change, Mr. Cameron mentioned to the Guardian newspaper about the name change. Also, a special team named Windies has been appointed to deal with the operational aspects of the change. An official statement from Mr. Cameron confirmed the above-mentioned moves. On his move of rebranding, Mr. Cameron stated that sport is a business and they at Cricket West Indies are the government. Sports not only comprises of improvising the game of the players but also take into account the financial aspects in order to achieve a long-term success. He further promised of changing the sports management framework to keep pace with the world sports. The earlier board, WIBC, was blamed for having an outmoded governance with lack of transparency in their work and proceedings. To this, the board members argued that no such things against them are proven yet. Mr. Cameron vowed that Cricket West Indies is all set to accept the challenges and rise above with flying colours of accomplishments.
