Nadi Tarangini: CDSCO Approves India’s First Ayurvedic AI-Powered Medical Device
Ayurveda, one of India’s oldest healing systems, is stepping into the future with the advent of technology. Pune-based startup Atreya Innovations has developed an innovative AI-powered device, Nadi Tarangini, which is set to redefine Ayurvedic diagnostics. The CDSCO approved device has been developed by IIT Bombay researcher Aniruddha Joshi. What is Nadi Tarangini?Nadi Tarangini is a state-of-the-art pulse diagnostic tool tailored for Ayurveda practitioners. Designed after over six years of rigorous research, the device combines ultra-sensitive sensors with advanced algorithms to deliver precise pulse readings. It has the ability to monitor 22 Ayurvedic health parameters, including Tridosha balance (Vata, Pitta, Kapha), stress levels, digestive health, and overall well-being. It offers practitioners invaluable insights for holistic healthcare.Joshi, who spearheaded the project, explained, “The device uses cutting-edge technology to make traditional Ayurvedic practices faster and more efficient. The device boasts an impressive accuracy rate of approximately 85%, offering reliable diagnostics.Additionally, Nadi Tarangini is India's first Ayurvedic medical device to receive approval from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), a major milestone for the standardization of Ayurvedic practices. The device has also secured patents in the US, Europe, and Indonesia.Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his Mann Ki Baat program, lauded the innovation, recognizing its significance in taking Ayurveda to the global stage.Joshi emphasized that the device marks a turning point for Ayurveda, bringing standardization to its practices through technology. “It not only enhances Ayurvedic treatment but also ensures consistency and credibility, enabling Ayurveda to transcend borders and benefit people worldwide,” he stated. He credits his father, Padma Bhushan Prof. JB Joshi, for inspiring the idea. Supported by a research grant from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), the project culminated in a patented device that integrates ancient Ayurvedic principles with the precision of AI.Expanding Reach and AccessibilityPriced at ₹55,000, the device is already in use across more than 1,250 Ayurvedic clinics in India. It is being manufactured at Atreya Innovations’ facility in Hinjawadi, Pune. The company has the capacity to produce 5,000 devices annually. With recent seed funding of ₹5 crore, the startup aims to scale production, enhance its distribution network, and invest in further research. “We’re committed to making Nadi Tarangini more accessible, ensuring it reaches practitioners and patients across the globe,” the company stated.By combining ancient wisdom with advanced AI, Atreya Innovations is paving the way for a healthier, more holistic future. With the introduction of Nadi Tarangini, Ayurveda is poised to take its rightful place among the world's leading healthcare systems.
