Bihar Creators Can Now Earn Up to ₹1 Lakh Per Video for Promoting Government Schemes
For social media creators in Bihar, going viral could soon mean more than likes, shares and followers. The Bihar Cabinet has approved amendments to the Bihar Social Media and Other Online Media Rules, 2026, allowing eligible and empanelled social media creators to earn additional payments based on the views generated by videos featuring state government schemes and programmes.Under the revised rules, creators can receive ₹10,000 for every one lakh views recorded by an eligible video after it completes 30 days. And there is a significant ceiling: a single video can earn up to ₹1 lakh in additional payments. The decision was among 13 proposals approved by the state Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. The 30-Day View Count MattersThe incentive will not simply be triggered by a video going viral overnight. According to the amended provisions, the video’s performance will be assessed after 30 days, with the views subject to verification before the additional payment is made. The amended rules also introduce periodic verification of followers of listed social media handles, pages and channels. The Bihar Information and Public Relations Department is expected to issue a detailed notification outlining the eligibility criteria, verification process and other conditions. For creators, the move could open up a new avenue to turn digital reach into tangible rewards—while giving government programmes an additional route to reach audiences online.Bihar Bets Big on AIThe Cabinet’s digital push does not stop with social media. It also approved a Memorandum of Understanding between Bihar’s Information Technology Department and Taiyo AI India Pvt Ltd to develop an artificial intelligence ecosystem in the state.According to a report in The Times of India, the proposed collaboration could bring AI into several areas of governance and public administration. One key component will focus on identifying, prioritising and monitoring public infrastructure projects. An AI-powered dashboard is also planned to provide early warnings about potential project delays and cost overruns. The partnership will further explore AI-assisted analysis of geospatial and demographic data, potentially helping authorities make more informed decisions. From Creators to ClassroomsThe AI initiative also looks beyond government offices. Plans include digital governance training for officials, along with AI and data analytics programmes aimed at students, youth and women.Together, the Cabinet decisions signal Bihar’s growing focus on the digital ecosystem—from using social media creators to communicate government initiatives to exploring artificial intelligence for governance and skill development. As the detailed notification on the creator incentive is awaited, one thing is already clear: in Bihar, digital influence is entering a new era—where views could have a value, and technology could have a bigger role in governance.
