India’s young weightlifting stars have delivered another powerful performance on the Asian stage.N Tomchou Meetei and Guru Naidu Sanapathi secured a spectacular gold-silver double in the men’s junior 60kg category at the Asian Junior Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.Tomchou claimed the gold with a combined lift of 266kg, while Guru Naidu finished just one kilogram behind with 265kg. The razor-thin margin made the contest a thrilling all-Indian battle for the top two spots.Tomchou Holds His NerveTomchou produced a total of 266kg, combining a 116kg snatch with a powerful 150kg clean and jerk.Although he was outlifted by his compatriot in the snatch, Tomchou made up the difference in the clean and jerk. His 150kg effort gave him a crucial four-kilogram advantage in the second discipline and ultimately secured the overall gold.His performance also earned him three medals—gold in the overall standings, bronze in the snatch and silver in the clean and jerk.Guru Comes Within One KilogramGuru Naidu Sanapathi came agonisingly close to taking the top spot. He actually had the stronger showing in the snatch, lifting 119kg to Tomchou's 116kg. However, his 146kg clean and jerk left him with a combined total of 265kg.That was enough for silver overall, along with silver in the snatch and bronze in the clean and jerk. Just one kilogram separated the two Indian lifters, underlining how fiercely competitive the final standings were.India's Medal Charge ContinuesThe double podium finish adds to India's impressive campaign at the championships.Earlier, Titli Maji won silver in the women's 45kg category, giving India a strong start to the competition. She lifted 65kg in the snatch and followed it with 80kg in the clean and jerk, finishing with a combined total of 145kg.India's Parishmita Gogoi narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth with a total of 141kg.
