India to get its First Adventure Sports Academy
India’s firsts adventure sports academy is slated to come up in Andhra Pradesh. The government will leave no stone unturned to promote the best adventure sports on land, water and air. It has been decided to identify more locations later so that these activities can be conducted on a larger scale. AP tourism secretary Mukesh Kumar Meena said that Andhra Pradesh has all unique geographic features that support adventure activities on every kind of terrain as well as land and sky. He added that it offers unparalleled opportunities in adventure sports. The AP government has signed an agreement with Shekhar Babu Bachinepally , who is a well known expert and mentor of many mountaineers in India. Initially, the academy will seek and locate the areas of operation throughout the state. Sub-centres for various specializations such as camping, survival, rock climbing and aqua sports will be planned. The academy will encourage professionals to venture into the adventure tourism sector. Meena said that adventure tourism will also generate employment opportunities in various sectors like excursion agencies, holiday resorts, leisure camps, commercial recreation centres and sports centres. He added that experts in adventure sports can work as instructors to teach students in institutes.
