Stop Waiting for the Perfect Moment; Take the Moment You Have and Make It Perfect.
Now allow me to ask you this: What makes you happy? What has been long since buried beneath the table, yet it still persistently nips at the back of your neck, pleading with you to bring it to light? What do you wish to create for yourself but are too scared to attempt? You want to explore and bring out the creative part of you, and we both know it. What are you waiting for, may I ask? If you're still waiting for the ideal moment to begin pursuing your goals in life, you need to understand that there will never be a perfect moment since you will never be completely prepared. Waiting for the ideal moment to come along, when you can finally start doing the things you want to do and doing the things you want to make, is the largest injustice you can do to yourself. I learned a vital life lesson from this mantra: Avoid wasting your precious life by coasting through it, since all you know might be snatched away from you in an instant. Rather, live it bravely and gratefully on purpose. We start to value the time that is now being given to us when we start to think more deliberately about who we want to be and what we want to accomplish with our time on this planet. Stated differently, we learn to be more present. And as we get more adept at living and fully engage with the present, we start to understand just how valuable life truly is. Furthermore, why let something valuable go to waste? "The likelihood that you won't complete a task increases with the amount of time you put off doing it." a quote stated differently, your likelihood of acting decreases with the amount of time you wait to act. Why? Since you are now putting strong obstacles in your way of taking the necessary steps. This enormous void encourages additional uncertainty, dread, and sloth to occupy the area. As so, the deck is now more heavily loaded against you. Let's face it: our natural tendency is to take the easiest route. If not, why do we put things off? Therefore, one method to get around this is to prevent the resistance from festering and growing between where we are and where we want to go. It's About Taking Steps ~ Not Sinking Into Them! (Source: Google Images) Building a Raft is Your Goal, Not Building a Luxurious Boat ~ There’s a story of two young fishermen who dreamt of voyaging across the open seas. The first decided to focus on the bare necessities. He asked himself: “What’s the simplest and easiest way for me to sail out of here?” So he collected driftwood, shaped it into a raft, hauled it out into the river, and ventured off to mark the start of a new adventure. The second opted for something a little more extravagant. He didn’t want to sail in a raft; he wanted to build himself a grand boat made from thick trunks of ancient oaks. So he spent the next year building it. But as soon as the boat’s foundation was ready, he decided he wanted to add two leather seats. So another year passed by. And when the seats were finally installed he figured that since he’s going to be sailing around the world, he might as well expand the boat now rather than later to make it a little more spacious and comfortable. One year turned into two, and two into three, and almost 1,000 sunsets later, the first fisherman returned home to find his friend still exactly where he had left him: On the shore, still building his “perfect” boat. But to the surprise of the people in the village, the young man hadn’t come back in his modest raft, but rather in a decently-groomed boat flagged with over 50 different emblems from the countries he had visited around the world. The moral of the story ~ Don’t complicate your life or waste your precious time by building a boat on the sidelines. Simplify the process. Focus on what's necessary. Start small and build yourself a raft, slide it into the river stream, and as you actively row and flow in the direction that you please, grow your raft into a boat. ~ Move, and be with the flow. In other words, don’t mistake motion for action. It will never be easy ~ You will feel like a fraud, you will put ridiculous amounts of pressure on yourself, trying to look confident. You will be afraid of falling on your face at every moment, but you will most certainly, undoubtedly, love what you're doing. I want you to realize this: Starting will never be easy. What’s even harder to do is to carry on building what you started. But do you know what’s worth it? Looking back at the journey half a decade later and thinking: “I’m so glad and proud of myself for doing this.” Bottom Line ~ Good things arrive one after the other, gradually. One day at a time, you compose a poem or a song, and all of a sudden you have a book and collection to sell ( or tickets to your music concert !). You start a newsletter with no subscribers, and after sending out fresh editions every week for a while, all of a sudden you have over 3,000 subscribers who are reading your content. Though in reality it's only an issue of consistency, many believe it to be luck. Furthermore, competence is bred by consistency. So, yes indeed I believe consistency is the key above all.
