Bengaluru and Hyderabad airports rank among the world's top three most punctual airports

In the latest assessment of on-time performance by Cirium, a leading aviation analytics firm, Hyderabad and Bengaluru airports have emerged as flag bearers of punctuality on a global scale. Capturing the second and third positions respectively, these airports have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to efficiency and reliability in air travel, boasting over 84 per cent on-time departures. The success of Hyderabad and Bengaluru airports owes itself to a blend of infrastructure advancements and the substantial presence of IndiGo, a prominent Indian airline. IndiGo, ranking fourth among Asia Pacific airlines with more than 82 per cent on-time arrivals, plays a pivotal role in ensuring the punctuality of flights at these airports. Nearly half of all flights in Bengaluru and 65 per cent in Hyderabad are operated by IndiGo, underlining its significant influence. IndiGo's prominence underscores the airline's dedication to punctuality, shaping the operational landscape of these airports positively. This symbiotic relationship between the airline and airports emerges as a crucial factor contributing to their exceptional on-time performance. Not to be overshadowed, Kolkata airport secured a noteworthy ninth position in the medium airports category with an impressive 83.9 percent on-time flights. Cirium's measure of on-time performance considers flights that arrive within 15 minutes of their scheduled gate arrival. These rankings not only showcase India's aviation prowess but also underscore the crucial collaborative role played by airlines and airports in upholding punctuality standards.

Flying High: India Leads the Way With Most Female Pilots in the World

In recent years, India has become a trailblazer in the aviation industry, boasting the highest number of female pilots worldwide. Several airlines in the country have implemented policies to retain and support their female talent, making it an attractive career choice for women. IndiGo offers its women pilots and crew members flexibility to continue working safely during pregnancy, excluding flying duties. It provides 26 weeks of paid maternity leave, as required by law, and also offers creches for childcare. Moreover, female pilots can choose to work on a flexible contract with two weeks of leave in a calendar month until their child reaches five years of age. Vistara, a full-service Indian airline, has also introduced measures to support its female pilots and cabin crew. Pregnant pilots and cabin crew members can opt for temporary ground jobs or administrative roles until they are ready to fly again. The increased representation of women in the aviation industry is a significant achievement for India. It reflects the country's commitment to gender equality and provides inspiration to women who aspire to break into male-dominated fields. Moreover, it highlights the importance of implementing supportive policies that help women navigate their careers while balancing their personal lives.
