India sets world record as 3 lakh perform yoga at one place
The GMDC ground at Ahmedabad witnessed a huge footfall on Wednesday as about 3 lakh people assembled to perform yoga frontline by Baba Ramdev who claimed that it is a world record. The event was attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, deputy chief minister Nitin Patel, BJP President Amit Shah, former chief minister Anandiben Patel, several other political leaders, IPS and IAS officers, high court judges and dignitaries Under the guidance of Ramdev, participants performed numerous yogic postures and asanas. At the conclusion of the one-and-a-half hour long session, Ramdev proclaimed that the event has made it to the Guinness World Records as nearly 3 lakh people performed yoga at one place. He said that the officials of the Guinness World Records book who were also present at the event will declare the final figure of the participants after tabulating the data based on the bar code tag given to each person at the entry gates Ramdev invited Shah and Rupani to join him on the dais and follow his yogic postures. Apart from the GMDC ground, yoga day was celebrated at all the district headquarters by the Gujarat government. An official of the city civic body said in Rajkot, as many as 792 women took part in an 'aqua yoga' event, wherein they performed asanas in different swimming pools. Meanwhile, in New York, the UN building was lit up with the word 'yoga' projected on it indicating that India is truly emerging as a soft power. The UN Postal Administration will also issue stamps commemorating Yoga Day that has been marked annually since 2015.
