Helmets as return gifts for a wedding in Nasik

 Extending the campaign undertaken by Nasik Police department about pro-helmet, a family has set an example by getting married in an unique way. When Priyadarshana Sabadra and Rushabh Gogad decided to get married, they planned to keep their marriage celebration to the minimum and distribute their guests for reception a helmet and spread the social message of use helmets while riding. The reception took place on April 19 at Vishwas Lawns which saw distribution of around 500 helmets to their guests. Priyadarshana's father, Rajendra Sabhadra said, "The concept came to my mind after the city police's pro-helmet campaign. Everyone understands the necessity of using helmets, but we hardly go out and purchase one. So, we decided to gift ISI marked good quality helmets to all our guests in the hope that most of them will use it. Those who don't drive two-wheelers have the option to hand it over to the needy."  The concept was a great hit among all the guests The commissioner of police, Ravinder Kumar Singhal, who  was also on their guest list also presented the helmets to some of the guests.  "I saw several youths at the party who drive two-wheelers without headgear. Now, some of them will use the helmets. This is a unique way to spread awareness about the city traffic police's constant of promoting safe driving or riding among the citizens. Usually, we respect the gifts that are given to us by our near and dear ones. I hope that more people will make use of this ideal gift," said Singhal. Both, Priyadarshana and Rushabh were in complete support of their parent's decision. "My father's decision to gift helmets to all the guests is the biggest wedding gift I could have asked for," said Priyadarshana.  This wedding also saw a go green initiative as it avoided printing cards instead the invitations were sent through email and smartphones. The money saved through this has been donated to 'Apla Ghar', an NGO working for the rehabilitation of 350 kids who were adopted after the Bhuj earthquake. The NGO in return will use the same money to conducts weddings of four girls in their NGO.
