Elon Musk Revives the First Drive-in Movie Theater in LA at Tesla's Supercharging Station
Elon Musk, the visionary CEO of Tesla Motors, is set to bring back the nostalgia of drive-in movie theaters to Los Angeles with the construction of a 1950s-style cinema at a Tesla Supercharging station. Musk's company recently received the green light to develop a drive-in theater and diner, complete with Tesla fast-charging stations, at the location on 7001 W Santa Monica Blvd in LA. The project will feature around 30 charging stalls, two outdoor movie screens, and a restaurant with rooftop seating. Tesla enthusiasts have eagerly anticipated this venture, as Musk first mentioned the idea on Twitter back in 2018. In 2021, he further hinted at the project, expressing his hope to include a 50's diner and showcase 100 best movie clips at the Santa Monica Supercharger station. Recognizing the need to address charging time concerns, Musk envisions incorporating leisure and hospitality features into the charging stations, allowing Tesla owners to enjoy movies while their vehicles power up. The revival of drive-in movie theaters, once a popular American pastime, is a welcome addition to LA's entertainment landscape. Despite California being home to many film productions, the city currently lacks a drive-in theater. This project will fill that void and provide an enjoyable experience for Tesla owners and movie enthusiasts alike. As Tesla continues to expand its supercharging network across the country, Musk's innovative approach to combine convenience and entertainment is set to revolutionize the electric vehicle charging experience.
