Pune NGOs Illuminate Lives with Diwali Diyas, Generating Revenue for Social Causes
Pune NGOs are brightening lives and supporting social causes through the sale of Diyas during the festive season of Diwali. These efforts have not only illuminated homes but also generated significant revenue for various organizations, enabling them to make a positive impact on society. One such NGO, Sparsh Balgram, has been making and selling Diyas for the past 14 years. Their Diwali products, including Diyas, lanterns, and greeting cards, have gained popularity among the community. The revenue generated from these sales is utilized for education, medical expenses, and rehabilitation of children. What initially started as a 200 Diya order has now become a substantial source of income, bringing in Rs 3 to 5 lakh for Sparsh Balgram. The funds are crucial in providing essential support and care to the children with special needs. Another organization, Akshar Sparsh, has been creating a safe space for children with intellectual disabilities. They have produced an impressive stock of one lakh Diyas and one lakh lanterns, which are distributed to companies, societies, and even exported to America. The proceeds from these sales help the NGO stay afloat and continue their mission of providing education and well-being to 22 children in need. In addition to supporting children, Pune NGOs also empower disadvantaged women. By utilizing donated old sarees, they produce small handbags, enabling 22 women to earn a livelihood. Over the years, more than three lakh bags have been sold, providing employment opportunities and a sense of independence to these women. The efforts of these Pune NGOs showcase the power of community involvement and the positive impact that can be made through initiatives like the sale of Diyas during Diwali. By supporting these organizations, individuals can contribute to meaningful causes and make a difference in the lives of those in need.
