When Kindness Comes from Unexpected Quarters
Kindness is doing what you can, where you are, with what you have. It doesn’t take much to be kind, but the feel-good experience after making someone happy by being kind is inexplicable. That’s what good Samaritan Amitabh Shah might have felt when he helped an elderly couple from a remote village in Uttar Pradesh to board a flight and bought them food too! Shah shared his experience on LinkedIn where he wrote that the elderly couple had a long journey- they traveled by bus for eight hours to reach the Delhi airport and then had to take a flight to Kanpur. Shah spotted them in the boarding area and at a glance, he could perceive that it was their first time, they were completely clueless and they didn’t understand English. Shah simply walked up to them with a smile and asked them to follow him. They thought he worked for the airline. As luck would have it, the couple was seated right in front of Shah. They requested him to take their picture and send it on WhatsApp to their daughter so that she would know that they are safe and he obliged. Shah further wrote that the couple declined food even though they seemed hungry and thirsty for hours. So, he paid for paneer sandwiches and juices and asked the air hostess to serve it to the couple and tell them it was complimentary as they were lucky customers to win a free meal. While parting ways, the couple simply smiled at Shah who states that we should always be kind at every opportunity that we get.
