Girl On A Mission For Paraplegic Soldiers
In present times when youngsters end their lives over mobile phones or failed love affairs, Mitsu Chavda, a 23-year-old college student from Surat Gujarat inspires all to make their life useful. In November 2017, she embarked on a solo bike trip across the country to create awareness for paraplegic soldiers. So far, she has covered around 5000 kms in six states including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha in her nationwide solo bike trip which she has named ‘Ride for Soldiers.’ Mitsu said, "These soldiers became disabled while serving the motherland. But despite losing their everything these soldiers hardly get the recognition they deserve and acknowledgment for their sacrifice. So I thought of creating awareness among the masses about them." In the course of her trip, she visits schools, colleges, clubs to address people about the lives and sacrifices of paraplegic soldiers. She wishes that by her 25th birthday she should create awareness about these soldiers among 25,000 people in the country. So far, it has been a smooth ride for her. There were no safety issues or challenge, except shortage of clean toilets of women. Donning a biker’s jacket, jeans, boots and all biking gears, she was mistaken for a boy by some bikers who cornered her near Bengaluru, but when they came to know that the biker is a girl and that too with a cause, they were very friendly and cooperative. Mitsu visited Puri Jagannath temple and Konark Sun Temple on Monday morning and will leave for Kolkata on Tuesday.
