14-Year-Old Indian Becomes the Fastest Blindfolded Skater in the World
While skating appears to be a tough sport requiring great skill and balance, imagine how it would be to skate blindfolded! A 14-year-old girl from Hubballi, Ojal Nalavade on Thursday achieved this amazing feat of becoming the fastest blindfolded skater in the world. Ojal covered a distance of 400 metres in 51 seconds while skating blindfolded. Officials of the Guinness Book of World Records were present at the venue of the event and they declared Ojal as the fastest blindfolded skater in the world in the 400 metres category amidst cheer from the crowds. Amazing Feat Ojal, a skating enthusiast would train daily in the wee hours. Her coach AkshaySuryawanshi said that Ojal would practice early in the morning every day. He stated that skating blindfolded was a rare feat that she could accomplish with hard work and determination. People had gathered since early morning to witness the record-breaking event. Ojal was given three attempts and the third attempt was considered as the record. She had to perform the task within 60 seconds, but the young girl accomplished the feat within just 51 seconds. A Big Challenge It was the consistent efforts of Ojal that helped her enter the book of records. Ojal would wake up and practice in the wee hours on the same road where she accomplished the feat yesterday. While her parents are speechless with joy, Ojal expressed happiness and thanked everyone for their support. She acknowledged the support of her parents, coach and family and expressed her gratitude to them.
