Young yoga enthusiast wins medals for India
Mysuru girl Kushi H shined at the Asian Yoga Sports Championship held at Singapore as she swept four gold medals and a silver, thus making her city as well as country proud. Kushi also created a record by performing ‘Most Back Plank Recline Cruncher in one minute.’ Kushi was ecstatic about her medal haul and said that she enjoyed winning medals at international tournaments. She credited other members and contestants too for her success. She said that she got opportunities to interact with contestants from Philippines, Thailand, Hong Kong and Singapore while undergoing a month’s training for the championship adding that yoga is very popular in these countries. After this win, Kushi will prepare for the National Yoga championship which will be held in Uttar Pradesh. She is determined to win it as it will get her directly qualified for the World Championship which will be held in Goa. She said that the preparation will remain the same as she practices yoga for three hours daily. This lively yoga enthusiast was initially very fond of skating, but owing to breathing problems, she had to quit. That is when she was suggested to take up yoga as a remedy to her breathing woes. Kushi says that her first yoga guru Geetha, spotted her talent and encouraged her to aspire for greater glory. Currently, she is training under Ganesh Kumar and is practicing under him with dedication. The class 9 student has immeasurable talent which is evident from the innumerable awards that she has won like Yoga Praveene, Karnataka Kalashree District Youth Award, Yoga Kesari, Yoga Ratna and Mysuru Ratna.
