Mohali to get a cycle track
A meeting held in Mohali led to the clearing of development work orders to the tune of 7 crores. One such work order was issued by the Mohali Municipal Corporation to prepare the detailed project report for the construction of a cycle track. Panchkula based consultant S T Associates has been asked to prepare the DPR for cycle tracks along with junction design, which includes conduction of a survey, feasibility report and detailed estimate as per IRC standards. The 2.7 kilometer cycle track starting from YPS crossing will extend upto Kumbran village crossing and then will turn towards the Forest Complex in sector 68. Mayor Kulwant Singh said that work has been allotted to prepare the DPR for the construction of cycle track. The company will be conducting the topographical survey of the roads and anything that comes in the way such as structures, telephone poles, street lights, will be taken into consideration. They will have to submit three sets of drawing along with soft copy in Autocad. They will also have to specify the tools, equipment and manpower as per directions of engineer-in-charge. In order to reduce cyclist’s conflict with vehicular traffic flow, the company has been asked to prepare an overall strategic plan. The cycle tracks will be designed as per IRC specifications to ensure continuous traffic (cyclists) flow for an area.
