Kirta Dorpa's Immense Courage Is Making Us Proud Of Her
Getting access to a medical store during an emergency is a huge relief. But what if a particular place does not have a pharmacy at all? Preventing diseases will become a problem and it will lead to several discomforts for the residents. However, Kirta Dorpa has developed the situation in Abujmarh Forest in Chhattisgarh by opening its first medical store. The area is Maoist stronghold and we are proud of Kirta for her initiative. Getting access to a medical store was certainly a problem for the locals in Abujmarh as the Maoists claim it as a liberated zone and the government facilities are not enough there. TOI reported that people had to travel for 70km and more to Narayanpur in order to buy medicines. There was a Jan Aushadi Kendra which was shut down a few months ago and when it didn’t reopen, the 23-year-old woman from Muria tribe decided to come up with the medical store. In a conversation with TOI, she said: “It was not easy to set up a medical store in such an inaccessible region. We fought hard to make it happen. I feel happy that my people and residents of this region won’t have to travel long distances to buy medicines. It will save time, money and perhaps lives.” The locals of Abujmarh Forest have now sighed and the reason behind their relief is Kirta’s immense courage. We wish her all the luck in life and may she keep reaching out to people as a saviour.
