Celebrating humour in Marathi cinema
Starting from June 22 till 26, The National Film Archive of India in Pune will see classic Marathi movies celebrating its humour. NFAI in association with Aashay Film Club and D M Mirasdar Pratishthan has organized a unique film festival showcasing Marathi comedy movies. The festival will take a retrospective look at some of the most iconic and hilarious Marathi films. Humour has always been a significant aspect of Maharashtrian culture and its cinema. Time to time Ram Ganesh Gadkari, P K Atre, C V Joshi, D M Mirasdar, S N Navare have written many comedy cinemas. Dada Kondke, Master Vinayak, Raja Paranjape Kedar Shinde carried ahead the culture of comedy movies in Marathi cinema. The festival will showcase 11 popular movies in a different era of Marathi cinema. Selected films are Bramhachari, Pedgaoche Shahane, Avaghachi Sansar, Songadya, Gulacha Ganapati, Varhadi Vajantri, Dhoom Dhadaka, Savat Majhi Laadki, Ek Daav Bhutacha, Kaay Dyacha Bola and the recently released Chi Va Chi Sau KA. There will also be an interactive session by filmmaker Paresh Mokashi, screenwriter Madhugandha Kulkarni and actors Lalit Prabhakar and Mrunmayee Godbole of movie Chi Va Chi Sau KA.
