No GST For Patients In The Hospitals.
The patients admitted in hospitals will not be charged Goods and Services Tax (GST) on the cost of food served in the hospitals as per doctors advice, said the government. This reduction is only for the in-patients and not for the patients who visit the clinic and hospitals for routine checkups and tests. According to the revenue department, no GST will be levied on services offered by senior doctors, consultants or technicians as it is covered under the Healthcare scheme. “Food supplied to in-patients as advised by the doctor/nutritionists is a part of the composite supply of healthcare and not separately taxable. Other supplies of food by a hospital to patients (not admitted) or their attendants or visitors are taxable,” a statement given in FAQs.
