India’s First Floating Market To Open In Kolkata
Kolkata is transforming a water body in Patuli area to develop into the country’s first floating market, designed along the lines of Bangkok’s floating market.The market will initially house over 200 shops.It will be divided into four sections—fish, meat, vegetable, and grocery which can be accessed by the people through walkways on the water body. It has been developed by the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) in collaboration with the municipal corporation and is expected to be a popular tourist destination like the Victoria Memorial and Howrah Bridge.
