According to PM Narendra Modi, the government's determination to honor the diverse cultural traditions of the Northeast is reflected in the Union Cabinet's choice to rename the new airport in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, as Donyi Polo Airport. He further said that the airport will increase connectivity, foster business growth, and promote tourism in Arunachal Pradesh. The naming of Itanagar's brand-new Hollongi airport received Cabinet approval. The airport will now be known as "Donyi Polo Airport, Itanagar," after a resolution adopted by the Arunachal Pradesh government. An official statement states that it "reflects the people's reverence of the Sun (Donyi) and the Moon (Polo) to symbolize the traditions and rich cultural legacy of the state."
