When a patient is too sick in a society where self-interest often takes precedence over helping those in great need, Dr. J Srihari Rao in Mattampally Mandal, Suryapet district, is a model of extraordinary commitment and compassion that cuts beyond traditional lines. Globally, doctors are regarded as being on par with God. The main reason it occurs is that they are selfless lifesavers who tirelessly serve humanity. Furthermore, one of the most in-demand careers is that of a doctor. Many raise their children to become doctors, instilling this desire in them from a young age. Most doctors are very proficient and have proved their importance time and again for mankind. Dr Srihari treats patients at the Ramachandra Raju Memorial Healthcare Hospital (RRMHH) on the Nagarjuna Cements Limited campus in Mattapalli without charging a fee. In fact, he has been known to pay for emergency care out of his pocket- yes you read it right! Comprehending and Addressing the Problems:  The challenging terrain of this region, nestled amidst hills and forests, witnesses a staggering 45 to 50 cases of snake bites and scorpion stings each year. Dr. Srihari's benevolence extends further as he oversees over 100 outpatient visits daily from 30 villages in the mandal. The hospital boasts a wide range of services, including skilled staff and state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment. Specialists also play a crucial role in the hospital's operations. An ophthalmologist tends to eye-related issues, while a cardiologist visits every three months, a gynecologist once a month, and a pediatrician also provides monthly care. It's worth noting that, despite potential shortages in government hospitals, free medications are always available to patients. This altogether is the work of God wherein the reward is bliss and sense of positivity! In its entirety, this work can only be described as a divine mission where the reward is not only in healing bodies but also in nurturing spirits with bliss and a profound sense of positivity.

Heroic Healing Bots: Robot Medics Fearlessly Venture Where Doctors Can't to Save Lives

Researchers at the University of Sheffield have developed a mobile robotic-controlled un-crewed ground vehicle (UGV) that could be used to provide medical treatment in hazardous environments such as radiation zones or war zones. The first-of-its-kind system was developed using medical telexistence (MediTel) technology and boasts virtual reality (VR) capability, enabling medics and operators to assess critical casualties in hazardous environments while ensuring their safety. The robot features two robotic arms which can be remotely operated to perform a critical initial assessment of a casualty within 20 minutes. The arms can check a patient's temperature, blood pressure, heart rate and even administer pain relief through an auto-injector. The robot streams real-time data to a remote operator, allowing them to perform a remote triage. The researchers say the robot's potential applications are limitless and it could be used by multiple emergency response services. The MediTel project was one of three novel telexistence technologies funded by a £2.3 million innovation competition through the Defense Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. The Sheffield team hopes to build on the project's success and explore the development of a large-scale medical emergency platform capable of rapid deployment to humanitarian disasters. The robot could be a game-changer in the field of emergency medicine and could save countless lives in high-risk emergency environments.

US Doctors Offer Free Surgeries

In a first, a team from California based Aloha Medical Mission will be camping in the country to provide free services to as many as 600 patients from across the rural heartland of Charotar region of Central Gujarat. A fortnight-long camp has been organized which will commence on January 6 where patients will undergo free surgeries, thanks to the efforts of US return Dr. Paresh Patel. Patel is a general surgeon who returned to India after spending 35 years of his life in the US. He then set up a hospital in Borsad in Anand district where he along with his wife oncologist Chandralekha Patel provide a free consultation to the needy. When Patel came to know that the Aloha Medical Mission wanted to conduct a camp in India, he insisted that their services will be needed in the rural belt of Gujarat and made arrangements for them. Patel, president of the Chovis Gam Sacchidanand Medical and Research Center which runs Shraddha Hospital said,"In all a team of seven surgeons, three dentists, five anesthesiologists, one plastic surgeon and one ENT surgeon will be camping at Borsad from January 6 to January 19 to operate the patients." Diagnostic camps were conducted to identify the patients in need of treatment. The team from the US will perform gastrointestinal surgery, treat congenital deformities and also provide free mechanical prosthesis to patients who have amputation of hands.

Top Mumbai Private Hospitals To Treat Slum-Dwellers For Free For A Day

In a bid to shatter the belief of poor that private hospitals are not meant for them, a first of its kind drive has been ordered by charity commissioner Shivkumar Dige wherein doctors from some of city's biggest private hospitals will offer treatment at their doorsteps on November 4. All 74 trust-run hospitals including Breach Candy, Saifee, Lilavati, Nanavati, Godrej, Kokilaben Ambani, Hinduja and Jaslok will direct their services to the slum dwellers and the homeless. The hospitals have been told to put together teams of doctors, nurses and medical social workers, who will drive into designated areas with ambulances and medicines to diagnose and treat patients. Those in need of further treatment will be referred to the hospitals. According to Dige, the drive will spread awareness about the scheme that gives the economically backward sections the right to walk into any trust-run hospital and get treated for free or at a subsidized cost. It was on the directions of the Bombay high Court that the state charity commissioner had framed a scheme for treatment of poor patients in reputed charitable hospitals in 2006.Under the scheme, 10% of the beds in hospitals have to be set aside for indigent patients and hospitals will have to give concessions to another 10% from weaker sections. Dige laments that although there are numerous schemes for the poor, very few benefit from them. Hospitals are reluctant to follow the scheme and flout the basic requirement of displaying a prominent board about the scheme.  This initiative will enable doctors to reach out to patients on the streets and in slums to offer them services and make them aware of the schemes.

Know More About a Unique Permanent Registration Number for Doctors

The Medical Council of India (MCI) has decided to issue a Unique Permanent Registration Number (UPRN) to all medical practitioners in the country. This move will help to curb duplicate registrations and quackery. It will also facilitate the regularization of medical practice, and ensure bond discipline. Ramesh Rohiwal, an official from the Indian Medical Association, Aurangabad said that this system will be of great help to doctors who have to change places of their work. “Earlier, doctors who migrated, faced difficulties since they were registered with the medical council of a different state. The UPRN will help such doctors. It will also make it easy to search for registration of doctors,“ said Rohiwal. The medical fraternity has welcomed the MCI move. However, doctors in Maharashtra face a hurdle as registration has to be renewed every five years in the state. This rule in Maharashtra exists as doctors are required to complete one year and two-year bonds for their registration renewal. This is for doctors who completed their graduation, post-graduation and super-specialty degrees from government medical colleges between 1980 and 2000. However, many doctors couldn’t serve the bonds due to unavailability of vacancies in government hospitals and started practicing privately. Rohiwal said that now while renewing the registration, they are being asked for the bond free certificate and are required to pay compensation for not serving the bond.

Government Doctors Under Ministries to Serve Longer

with the intent to manage the shortage of experienced doctors, the government on Wednesday increased the retirement age of doctors under various ministries and departments, other than doctors of the Central Health Services (CHS), from 62 to 65 years. These include doctors working under the ministry of AYUSH, Department of Defence (civilian doctors under Directorate General of Armed Forces Medical Service), Department of Defence Production (Indian Ordnance Factories Health Service Medical Officers), dental surgeons under the department of health and family welfare, and the Ministry of Railways and of doctors working in higher education and technical institutions under the Department of Higher Education as well as port trusts. The Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that this move is to ensure that patient care is not adversely affected. He added that work will be done separately to fill vacancies of doctors in these places. In a separate statement issued later in the day, Health Minister J P Nadda welcomed the decision. He said that the decision may not have much financial implication as large numbers of posts are lying vacant and the present incumbents would continue to work in their existing capacity against sanctioned posts.  He added that around 1,445 doctors of various ministries/departments of the central government would be benefited by this move.
