Daycares in the state to be regulated
Now, even private day cares and creches will be under surveillance of the Government of Maharashtra. Currently there is no control over day cares in the state. With increasing incidents of child harassment in day cares and private creches, now government feels the need to even regulate the norms followed by these day cares. A committee would be set up under the secretary of either woman and child development department or home which will regulate the norms followed by the day cares. Like schools and pre-primary schools, there will be special norms introduced by this committee. The day cares and creches should abide with the norms and any complains in any day care can be approached to state government in return the committee will be able to take required action. This is a welcome move by the government of Maharashtra as day cares are the need of the time for lakhs of working women but if the same quality and standard is maintained in creches then even women can feel free to work leaving their children at the creche.
