Empowering Tribal Women: Adilabad's Self-Help Groups Expand Product Range with Amla Laddus
In a significant stride towards economic growth and women empowerment, self-help groups (SHGs) comprising tribal women in Adilabad district have embarked on expanding their product range by introducing Amla laddus. The move comes after their successful venture of selling Amla pickles, showcasing their entrepreneurial spirit. To equip the tribal women from various SHGs with the necessary skills, a comprehensive seven-day training program was organized. Resource persons, including Sanjivani Jadhav from Maharashtra and Indhira Swapna, Alekya, and Archana from an SHG in Utnoor, provided valuable training in the art of preparing Amla laddus. Following the successful completion of the training, these determined women not only introduced Amla laddus but also ventured into producing Amla juice for the first time. The expansion of their product line is an evidence of their dedication and willingness to explore new avenues for economic sustainability. Recognizing the significance of this training program in empowering the self-help group women, the National Bank For Agriculture And Rural Development (NABARD) sanctioned an LEDP (Livelihood Enterprise Development Program) specifically for Amla processing and value addition. With a budget allocation of Rs 8 lakh, this initiative is set to benefit 90 women from the SHGs. During her visit to the training centers in Utnoor, NABARD's Chief General Manager, Susheela Chinthala, expressed her support for these women and announced an additional amount of Rs 5 lakhs to further bolster their entrepreneurial endeavors. The expansion of product offerings by the tribal women self-help groups showcases their determination, resilience, and commitment towards achieving financial independence and uplifting their communities. Their success serves as an inspiration for other marginalized groups and highlights the power of women empowerment in rural areas.
