This 14-Year-Old Did Something Phenomenal For The Mumbai Rag Pickers
The monsoon season has taken over in full force and all of us have started taking the necessary precautions but, what about those who make a living by picking up and selling rags? It gets quite difficult for a ragpicker to do his job during the rainy season but, a few needful things can make it easier for them. And keeping this in mind, 14-year-old Sanjana Runwal came forward to do her part. A few months ago, the enthusiastic and young girl gave away raincoats and gumboots to 200 ragpickers in association with Aasra Welfare Association at an event held in Bandra, Mumbai. While talking about why it is important not to consider our ragpickers petty, Sanjana told TOI: “I want to bring about a positive change in the lives of the ragpickers. They too are human beings like us and we should stop turning a blind eye towards them. If they stop doing what they do, we will not the cities will become unlivable. Cringing and covering our noses when we see them will not help anyone.” Sanjana also added that she is trying her utmost to help them and she also wants others to support her in this cause. Sanjana started her initiative, Revolution for Rag Pickers to bring in positive changes in their life. We at My Indian Dream are proud of her for having a great mindset at such a young age. The future can be in good shape if more kids like her come into the picture. Image Courtesy: The Indian News
