For availing benefits of kerosene subsidy and Atal Pension Yojana, Aadhaar card is mandatory
To avail subsidy on kerosene and the benefits of the Atal Pension Yojana, you need Aadhaar card compulsorily. People availing any of the above benefits must present proof of possession of Unique Identifier (UID). Officials informed that availing the Yojana and the subsidy scheme would require unique ID. If anyone doesn’t have one, he has to go through the enrolment process to avail the facilities. The deadline to get the Aadhaar card or to enroll for getting the card for availing the yojana is June 15 and for kerosene subsidy, the deadline is September 30. But until one gets his or her Aadhaar card, driving license, Kisan Passbook with photo, ration card, job card issued under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, voter identity card or a Gazette certificate issued by an officer or a tehsildar can be submitted as identity proof for availing the services. The Aadhaar card will be linked to the beneficiary’s ration card or bank account for cash transfer. The subsidy will be directly credited to the bank accounts of the beneficiary. The subsidy for kerosene is provided mainly for those below the poverty line for domestic use as cooking fuel. Under the pension scheme, the beneficiary, starting from age 60, will get a minimum of Rs. 1000 to Rs. 5000 per month.
