NASA paid a special musical tribute to the seven astronauts including the first woman of Indian origin astronaut Kalpana Chawla who were killed 15 years ago in the Columbia space shuttle. Singer and songwriter Tal Ramon, son of Isreal’s first astronaut Ilan Ramon joined a few hundred others at Kennedy Space Center to remember the Columbia crew and other astronauts who perished in the line of duty over the decades.
The shuttle shattered in the sky due to a hole in one of its wings just minutes before a Florida touchdown. Seven hills where NASA’s rover Spirit spent several years exploring the Martian terrain are named in remembrance of the final crew of Space Shuttle Columbia.
