The National Women’s Science Congress brings women to the forefront of Science. It covers the entire spectrum of science, engineering and technology, encompassing the spiritual, the social and the secular (physical and material) sciences.
The 12th National Women’s Science Congress (NWSC) was held in Mysuru on November 7. The conference also marks the birth anniversaries of Marie Curie and C. V. Raman.
The three-day event that began on Thursday was inaugurated by Indira Narayanaswamy, former scientist and technological Director, Aeronautical Development Agency(ADA) Bengaluru. Muthayya Vanitha, project director of Chandrayaan 2 spoke on the contribution to India to space science and technology. She was awarded the Marie Curie Mahila Vijnana Puraskara for her contributions to the field of science. The C.V. Raman Mahila Vijnana Puraskara was awarded to Dr.N. Kalaiselvi, director, CSIR-CECRI.
A souvenir of the 12 th NWSC- Vijnana Nele was released. There were talks on various topics by renowned women scientists including gynaecologist Devika Janardhan on ‘Women’s Wellness: Myths and Realities’. After the valedictory address, a feedback session was also held with the delegates about the conference.
The 12th National Women’s Congress brought together eminent women scientists together and instilled a sense of pride, confidence and camaraderie amongst them.
