In a landmark move towards transforming India’s railway infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday virtually inaugurated 103 Amrit Bharat railway stations spread across 18 states. The launch was conducted from Rajasthan and also marked the dedication of 43 infrastructure projects worth ₹23,400 crore to the nation. Additionally, he flagged off a new express train service between Bikaner and Mumbai, enhancing long-distance connectivity.
The event was attended by key dignitaries including Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, underscoring the central and state governments' commitment to nationwide development.
The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is an ambitious vision by Indian Railways to upgrade and modernize railway stations across the country in a phased manner. Each station is being developed with its own tailored master plan, aimed at integrating better connectivity, passenger comfort, and eco-friendly design.
These stations will feature:
Modern façades and revamped platforms
Food courts, children’s play zones, kiosks, and landscaped areas
Wider roads, better lighting, improved signage
Facilities for the differently-abled
Focus on local heritage and culture—e.g., Ahmedabad station inspired by the Modhera Sun Temple, and Dwarka station by the Dwarkadheesh Temple
The ultimate goal? To convert railway stations into vibrant city centres—beyond just travel hubs.
This transformation is not just about aesthetics—it’s about accessibility, inclusivity, and pride. From Panagarh in West Bengal to Vadakara in Kerala, and Samakhiali in Gujarat to Karimnagar in Telangana, these stations are bringing comfort, culture, and connectivity to millions of passengers across India.
Since the scheme's inception, over 1,300 stations have been selected for transformation. In 2021, Gandhinagar became the first Amrit Bharat station, complete with a five-star hotel and ultra-modern amenities. Today’s event continues that legacy—with 103 more stepping into a new era.
With heritage-inspired designs and world-class amenities, our stations are not just stops—they're destinations!
