In a thrilling triumph, the Indian Dressage Team secured a coveted gold medal at the Asian Games equestrian team event for the first time in 41 years.
The winning team, composed of Divyakriti Singh on Adrenalin Firfod, Hriday Vipul Chhed riding Chemxpro Emerald, and Anush Agarwalla with Etro, showcased their exceptional skill and impeccable teamwork, aggregating a stellar 209.205 percentage points. Sudipti Hajela was also part of the team, although only the top three scores were considered in the final tally.
Dressage, a sport with roots in India's colonial past, was introduced by the British but has since become an integral part of the country's equestrian culture. It has evolved from a royal pastime into both a leisurely activity and a thrilling sport embraced by enthusiasts across India.
China claimed the second spot with 204.882 percentage points, while Hong Kong secured the bronze with 204.852 points. This historic gold medal win marked India's first-ever team gold in the dressage event, a sport in which the last medal, a bronze, was earned way back in 1986.
This triumph not only signifies India's growing prowess in equestrian sports but also serves as an inspiration to aspiring riders across the nation. The Indian Dressage Team's remarkable achievement at the 2023 Asian Games will undoubtedly leave a lasting legacy in the world of equestrian sports in India.
