The United Nations named 2023 the International Year of Millets at the request of the Government of India to raise awareness and promote the production and consumption of millets. If you believe millets are only now receiving appropriate respect, you must credit the efforts of Indian farmers and those driving the emphasis on these cereals, such as Dr Khadar Vali, also known as the "Millet Man of India." Dr Valli is the scientist who brought the world's attention to the importance of food grains. He has various studies to his credit and has worked hard towards grain restoration during the last 20 years. He has pioneered the revival of five types of extinct millets. He is a strong supporter of millet production and use.
Giving it as Food of Thought :
In According to Dr Valli ' When compared to rice and wheat, millets are an extremely good source of fibre and protein. Millets have long been a component of the mainstream diet, but they have been 'sabotaged' in the last 60 to 70 years by corporations that promote rice and wheat.' Millets, he claims, outperform rice and wheat in terms of nutritional value. He also discussed how millets could aid in the control and prevention of lifestyle disorders such as diabetes, obesity, and heart disease.
