In an inspiring turn of events, two graduates, MS Sangamesh and Rizwan Jahagirdar, have chosen to leave behind their B.Tech and MBA degrees and embark on a fulfilling journey in dairy farming. Breaking away from the conventional career paths dictated by their educational qualifications, these enterprising individuals have found a deeper sense of purpose in nurturing cows and buffaloes.
Despite the initial challenges of transitioning from their respective fields of study, both Sangamesh and Rizwan have discovered a passion for dairy farming that has made the shift much easier. Rizwan, who had previously worked in different companies after completing his B.Tech, decided to pursue farming when his employer asked him to relocate abroad. Choosing to stay close to his roots in Vijayapura, he embraced dairy farming on his family's land.
Similarly, Sangamesh, armed with an MBA and work experience in the corporate world, returned to Vijayapura during the Covid pandemic. Rejecting the idea of returning to his job, he seized the opportunity to become self-employed in dairy farming. Recognizing the timeless importance of milk as a commodity, Sangamesh has built a thriving dairy business, supplying approximately 50 liters of milk daily to his loyal customers.
Both graduates share a common belief that educated individuals can make a significant impact in the agricultural sector. They bring knowledge, fresh ideas, and enthusiasm to an industry that often goes overlooked. By engaging in dairy farming, they not only ensure a sustainable future but also create employment opportunities for others. They advocate for the involvement of educated youth in farming, challenging the perception that it is menial work.
