Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s government is carrying an anti-corruption drive in Andhra Pradesh. Those who have recently paid a bribe for availing any government service can dial 1100 and report it. There are chances that the government official who bribed you might come to you to return your money back!
On a nationwide survey, Andhra Pradesh has been reported to be India’s second most corrupt state. This initiative by the state government will put a stop to the illegal practice. Already, government officials are in a tight situation due to the drive receiving a huge public response. On May 25, the government launched the 'People First' grievance redressal channel which is responding wonders. Until now 12 persons have returned the bribed amount back to people. But the amount of about Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 only have been returned. The initiative does a thorough background checking of the matter before any action is taken. But the government doesn’t guarantee the return of money in all cases. Many people are also reporting the government schemes that indulge in corrupt practices. Even private individual brokers found guilty were asked to return the bribed amount.
However, the government does a thorough check in the cases because they don’t intend to intentionally stain the reputation of any government official.
