UPI has considerably aided India's status as the leader in digital payments. The central bank's planned improvements will hasten the deployment of UPI. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has recommended putting Artificial Intelligence-powered conversational features on UPI to enable digital payments through voice requests to make it more user-friendly and popular.
The Power & Ease of Voice Transactions:
Users will be able to converse with an AI-powered system to "initiate and complete transactions in a safe and secure environment" with this functionality.The service will first be available in Hindi and English, with additional Indian languages to follow. This channel will be made available in both smartphone- and feature phone-based UPI channels, assisting in the country's deeper penetration of digital payments. While QR code payments are simple for everyone, the addition of 'Conversational Payments' on UPI has the potential to take payment convenience to the next level. Those who find it difficult to utilize a mobile application for making digital payments or who wish to save time will now be able to easily execute UPI transactions.
