With her AI startup, Delv AI, 16-year-old Pranjali Awasthi from India has taken the tech world by storm. Awasthi revealed during a Miami Tech Week event that she had started her company in January 2022 and had been successful in getting funding of roughly Rs 3.7 crore. The Delv AI LinkedIn page now lists a team of up to ten individuals. As per Awasthi, the primary objective of Delv AI is to aid scholars in promptly locating particular information amidst the constantly growing pool of online resources. The accelerator program played a major role in helping Awasthi secure funding from On Deck and Village Global.
At present (per October fall 2023 reports), Delv AI is valued at approximately $12 million (nearly Rs 100 crore), having secured funding of $450,000 (almost Rs 3.7 crore). Throughout the event, she acknowledged her father as the primary influence and offered him credit for her entrepreneurial enterprise. Pranjali's engineer father encouraged computer science education in the classroom, which sparked her early interest in technology. At the tender age of seven, she was motivated to start programming, which set the foundation for her extraordinary career.

Pranjali's father is an advocate for engineering, which has sparked her interest in computers and technology. Her incredible accomplishment was made possible by the fact that she began learning to code at the age of 11. She had more possibilities after moving to Florida with her family, including difficult math programs and computer technology classes. But while she was just 13 years old, she worked as an intern at Florida International University's research labs, laying the foundation for her future venture. Owing to the COVID-19 epidemic, Awasthi completed her virtual high school education and worked on machine learning projects throughout her internship. With the release of ChatGPT-3 beta by OpenAI, the notion of using AI to speed up the extraction and summary of research data emerged. During this period, Awasthi conceived of Delv.AI, to use machine learning to improve data extraction procedures and break down data silos.
Her journey took a significant turn when she joined the AI startup accelerator in Miami run by Backend Capital's Dave Fontenot and Lucy Guo. Awasthi's acceptance into the program demonstrated her steadfast commitment to pursuing her goals, even if it meant briefly putting her high school coursework on hold. She talked about how well Delv AI's beta launch on Product Hunt went. Awasthi has postponed her college goals in favor of her responsibilities and dedication to her organization, even though her Indian parents still believe that education is an essential attribute. To acquire business expertise that will aid her in her entrepreneurial endeavors, she intends to go back to school in the future.
AI: Why It Promises a Better Future Beyond Doomsday
For many, 2023 marked the moment of fully accepting that artificial intelligence (AI) had arrived and become a significant technological force. Due to its rapid development, serious concerns have arisen about its potential impact on society, the economy, and self-perception. As of mid-2024, daily meetings are held with scientists and business leaders at the forefront of this swiftly evolving field. Following countless discussions and product demonstrations, there is a firm belief that artificial intelligence holds a brilliant future.
AI is seen not as a threat to existence but as a technology capable of bringing unprecedented abundance. Historically, humans have developed technologies to enhance capabilities: television expands senses, computers expand intellectual capacity, and the wheel expands physical range of motion. The relationship with AI is viewed as another form of such extension. Rather than presenting an "us versus them" conflict, artificial intelligence offers a profoundly positive-sum opportunity. It is anticipated that AI will lead to a future that is more prosperous, just, and humane.
