A 105-year-old World War II veteran who has no surviving relatives recently received over 3,000 birthday cards from people all over the world. Ernest Horsfall, who served in the Army Ordnance Corps during the war, received the cards after a friend put out a call on social media asking people to send greetings for his birthday.
The response was overwhelming, with people from as far away as Australia and the United Kingdom sending cards and letters to Horsfall. The cards included messages of gratitude for his service, as well as birthday wishes and expressions of love and respect.
The outpouring of support for Horsfall is a testament to the enduring impact that veterans have on their communities. Despite his age and the fact that he has no surviving relatives, Major White has clearly touched the lives of many people around the world.
In an interview with a local news station, Horsfall expressed his gratitude for the cards and the support he has received. He said that he was overwhelmed by the response and that it had made his birthday very special.
