The Telangana government has announced that it will set up the world’s first dedicated IT park for persons with disability (PwD). The park is set to come up over 10 acres in Hyderabad near the Shamshabad airport in the public-private partnership mode.
A release issued by the Telangana government stated that the park will have facilities for training, residential quarters and delivery centres for domestic and international clients. The park will create jobs for 2000 PwD and give them the required training for the same.
Telangana IT secretary Jayesh Ranjan said that the park will be developed in phases over the next two years.
The government in collaboration with Vindhya E-Infomedia Private Limited will develop the IT campus. They are in the process of roping in various corporations to participate in this one-of-a-kind initiative aimed at making the world more inclusive.
Apart from this project, the government is also planning to make 20 important government buildings barrier-free in the first phase. The department for welfare of disabled and senior citizens will offer aids and appliances like tricycles, motorized vehicles, wheelchairs, calipers, artificial limbs, crutches, hearing aids, laptops, mp3 players and braille books to 12,000 disabled persons.
